RoPay – the national instant mobile payments service developed by Transfond and Romanian Banks

What is RoPay?

RoPay is a modern and fast payment method developed by TRANSFOND that allows users to transfer money between different bank accounts in seconds, 24/7, using a QR code (desktop) or deep link (mobile), directly clients’ mobile banking apps.

 

This service is designed both for private individuals and businesses in Romania. RoPay is only available in RON, while the maximum limit/ transaction is of 49.999 RON.

Integration overview

Two options for presenting available payment methods to merchant customers:​

  • Redirect the Payer to the PayU-hosted payment page, or​

​

  • Display the payment methods on the merchant’s checkout page (transparent checkout).​
